NMW Your Support is Needed

The Royal Australian Regiment’s Memorial Walk is the spiritual home of The Regiment

It’s located in Gallipoli Barracks Enoggera where every Monday morning between 0600 and 1000 hours our veteran volunteer’s (aka Dads’ Army (DA)) meet to carry out maintenance tasks.

The Memorial is made up of artificial features, Contemplation Building, Maintenance Sheds, Picnic Shelters and BBQ Area and natural lawn and living trees with base plaques which memorialise those men who have paid the “Supreme Sacrifice” while serving overseas.

As the DA mob are getting on in years their lines are thinning and support is needed to reinforce their numbers. Therefore, we invite you all, no matter your Service (RAAF, RAN) or Army Corp, to join us.
Here is what you could be doing: mowing with a ride-on mower (no push mowers); whipper snipping or blowing with cordless equipment; removing dead fall, cleaning up plinths & memorabilia. There is no heavy lifting – those tasks are done by soldiers from our resident Battalions 6 RAR and 8/9 RAR.

Once tasks are completed, morning tea is provided which varies from home-made sconces/cakes, sangers/biscuits and or a sausage sizzle, along with a brew. Then story telling of past military exploits and warrior mates.

Take up the challenge and join us – try to bring a mate. For entry to the Base, you will be issued with a three-year Pass.

You don’t have to come every Monday, whenever you can will be helpful.
